We Have A Punk Sighting! CM Punk Invades Comic-Con!

First off, I want to apologize for not posting about Impact last night.  I was with family and unable to see the show.  Rest assured, I will get back to the weekly Impact column next week.  Now, onto the action.

When we last saw CM Punk, he was at the Chicago Cubs game with his belt, watching his hometown team on his first night as a "free agent".  Raw went on without him and a tournament was held to replace him as champion.  Of course, Raw ended with Triple H taking over the reigns of the show and starting a "new regime", leaving the question as to what that meant for CM Punk.

Well, the new "boss" had an appearance to make at Comic-Con yesterday to promote the new line of WWE action figures.  With him was Bret Hart and Rey Mysterio and it was reported that their appearance was rather dry.  That is, until it was invaded.

During the question and answer portion, CM Punk literally barged into the room with his title belt to ask questions to the "boss" with of course his first and most important question being "when are you going to put Zack Ryder on TV?"  The whole thing came off great and injected life into the otherwise dead crowd.  They loved Punk and I'm beginning to think that he just might be becoming the star many of us always thought he'd be.

Of course, this video is quite the viral sensation already, drawing over 200,000 views in less than a day on the internet.  Not even Zack Ryder can claim that sort of popularity.  However, the question now is, how can the WWE capitalize on this?

My immediate thought is that this video will have to air somehow on Raw.  I understand keeping Punk off TV, as the longer they do, the more of a renegade he seems to be and the more popular he becomes.  That said, these "random appearances" he does should probably be shown to the mass Raw audience to keep him fresh in their minds and show them how awesome he's being outside the ring.  Obviously this is a work (because we takes the WWE title everywhere they go?) so use it to your advantage on your show.  Keep showing Punk being a renegade until you find the proper way to reintroduce him on TV.

This really has the potential to make CM Punk a megastar, the type of star he always thought he was and the type of star the minority of us believed he could be.  Great idea for this apperance and I hope there are more just like it.  If you haven't seen it yet, I have included the video below.
